The Department of Computer Science at Hood College, in collaboration with the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) is pleased to invite you to the 2005 Hood Java Engagement for Teacher Training (JETT) Workshop, on February 26th, in Frederick, MD.

Java Engagement for Teacher Training workshops are intended to help high school teachers get started with computer science in Java, or to help experienced computer science teachers make the transition from C++ to Java. The workshop will include face-to-face learning sessions, hands-on exercises and discussion.

Topics will (tentatively) include: How to get started, Java applications and applets, Getting a grasp on Objects, From C++ to Java and Object-Oriented Programming

Our primary goal is to help high school educators learn object-oriented programming and Java. Other objectives include:

• the free exchange of teaching strategies, ideas, experiences, and materials,
• building a regional community of computer science educators,
• attracting young students from underserved groups, such as girls and minorities, into computing.

All workshop materials will be given freely for reuse in the attendee's high school curriculum.
