MATLAB WORKSHOP/TUTORIAL
Friday, November 16th, 1:00-5:30pm, HT 315

The Computer Science Club in collaboration with the Least Squares (Math Club) is offering a free half-day workshop/tutorial on MATLAB. The tutorial is open to Hood students, faculty and staff and will be led by a Hood alum, Alen Agheksanterian, currently pursuing a doctorate in math at UMBC.
OBJECTIVE: To gain applied, practical, hands-on experience on MATLAB functionality. There will be no theory or proofs. No prior experience with MATLAB is required if there is enough interest, enthusiasm and commitment to learn the basic MATLAB commands in a 30-minute introduction. The content is based on a series of "How-to" questions.

TOPICS
1. How to work with MATLAB (i.e. issuing commands, basic introduction)
2. How to perform basic linear algebra operations (i.e. eigenvalues, solving linear systems)
3. How to plot functions of one variable
4. How to write MATLAB scripts and functions (basics)
5. How to plot 3D surfaces/3D graphics
6. How to play with Numerical Methods (i.e. optimization, interpolation, data fitting, code solvers, etc.)
7. Open for questions.
